Empowering our Emerging Leaders

Providing multicultural scholarships is a powerful way to invest in a more inclusive and equitable society. These scholarships open doors for students from diverse backgrounds, helping to level the playing field and ensure that talent and potential—not financial barriers—shape educational opportunities. By supporting a wide range of cultural perspectives, we enrich academic environments, foster innovation, and cultivate empathy across communities. The ripple effect extends far beyond the classroom: graduates empowered by these scholarships often become leaders who advocate for justice, bridge cultural divides, and contribute to a more vibrant, resilient, and united society.

As we head into the new school year, we’re excited to welcome our Emerging Leaders for 2026. Here's a look at our past recipients—students whose multicultural scholarships are helping shape a more inclusive, innovative, and connected society.

Christian, Emily, Gao, Jesus, Bridget, Jer’Novia, Aileena, Chinna, Makiya & Adrianna

Quotes from recipients:

The multicultural scholarship has impacted me in meaningful ways. Growing up in a community where diversity was limited, it gave me a sense of belonging and recognition I hadn’t felt before. Beyond the financial support, it opened doors to opportunities and encouraged me to embrace my identity. I’m truly grateful for the support and what it represents.
SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT 2024

Being a mixed-race student, black and white, my experiences at Evansville High School have been a bit different than most. During my senior year, along with school and working a job, I also had to take on many adult responsibilities like figuring out how to get food from the Evansville Care Close, cleaning the house, cooking, and taking care of our family dog. Any scholarships I receive will greatly help me pay for my education and life as a college student. Even though I worked on and off, I have not been able to save much for my future because I had had to pay for things right now.
SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT 2025

Being a first-generation student and second-generation immigrant has gifted me with a unique perspective that is shaped by perseverance, adaptability, and the need for self-determination. I have learned that diverse viewpoints enrich problem-solving, and I strive to create spaces where others feel heard. Since the age of fourteen, I have worked to uphold the values of hard work and discipline through always maintaining a job from McDonalds cashier, to caring for the elderly. My family instilled these lessons in me: to respect myself and others, and to contribute to the betterment of my community. I developed and carried these experiences with me throughout high school, which shaped me into who I am. My parents’ sacrifices were at the core of this: my mother always ensured I had a home cooked meal after a long day and my father worked two jobs to support me. It was through them that I learned that true citizenship meant giving back to the community that raised you. Coaching, volunteering, working, or advocating for mental health awareness are all portrayals of how I care about my culture and community.
SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT 2025

As a first-generation college student from a Hispanic background, I face significant financial challenges My family always prioritizes hard work, but we have limited resources and little understanding of the complexities involved in financing higher education. Being the first in my family to attend university, I don’t have the guidance or support other may have; managing tuition, textbook fees, and housing expenses becomes overwhelming. Despite these obstacles, I am committed to succeeding and breaking generational barriers, but the path to my career goals and dreams is uncertain without financial assistance.
