100% of the funds raised by FTRTF will go to the individuals and families that were impacted by the tornado. The task force is a volunteer group who will determine need and disbursement according to the bylaws in place. These decisions will be made after insurance and other resources have been explored and exhausted.

Let's help our neighbors

On February 8, 2024, over 30 households were damaged or destroyed by the F2 tornado that ripped through Brodhead, Evansville, Fulton, Edgerton, Albion & Lake Koshkonong. There was no loss of human life, but there are damages of more than $2.4 million across the area - houses, barns, livestock, outbuildings, equipment, and more. The February Tornado Recovery Task Force is receiving funds for these neighbors who will have a long road ahead of them to rebuild and recover from this disaster. There are many variables to insurance and damages, we want to make sure that all the gaps in recovery are filled. Healing will come, but we ask for your help where you can - resources, prayers, and kindness. We are grateful for you and your generosity as we recover one day at a time.

Please Donate if you can.

FEBRUARY TORNADO RELIEF TASK FORCE (FTRTF)

The February Tornado Recovery Task Force (FTRTF), under the guidance of Wisconsin Emergency Management (and in conjunction with Rock County Sheriff) has agreed to meet and work together to address the needs of residents from Evansville, WI to Edgerton, WI, and area townships in response to the February Tornado. We will strive to respond to emotional, physical and spiritual needs of the 31 homes that were impacted. The FTRTF will work to avoid duplication of efforts, while filling in the gap for the needs not met by relief systems such as private insurance, FEMA, Red Cross, Small Business Administration and other disaster recovery programs.

The Task Force will seek to:
  • Provide collaborative leadership in the discernment of long-term needs for recovery and rehabilitation to the disaster;
  • Provide additional long-term assistance to individuals affected by the disaster who do not have adequate personal resources for basic needs as result of the disaster;
  • Maintain confidentiality of names, addresses, and other personal information of affected families;
  • Provide advocacy for people most vulnerable to having their needs overlooked in public recovery planning processes;
  • Assist community organizations to assure systematic needs analysis and resource matching;
  • Advocate for ongoing preparedness within the faith community and cooperation with governmental and voluntary agencies active in disaster;
  • Work with individual groups to provide community support and share resources available.

Participants in this effort include:
Austin Schmelzer, [email protected] (Committee Chair), Matt and Becca Poock, St. John’s Church, [email protected], Jen Wiedel/Creekside Place Inc., [email protected], Mike and Debbe Topel, [email protected], Shelly Andrew, [email protected], Amy Floan, [email protected], Sarah Williams, [email protected] (Edgerton Outreach), Sarah Tachon, [email protected], Pat Carr, [email protected]
(*Looking to add more participants)
*The goal of the February Tornado Recovery Task Force is to fill the gaps not met by FEMA, SBA, Red Cross and your personal insurance. Please look into these resources first. We are here to fill in the gap after these resources have been utilized.
